Once Upon a December..........Words and Music by Lynn Aherns and Stephen Flaherty, Arranged by Audrey Snyder
Once Upon a December is from the 1997 movie Anastasia. The song appears many times during the film. First as a tune the main character's childhood music box plays and then later at the climax of the film as she regains her memories. While not a Christmas song, it encompasses the feelings and sights we see in December.
Caroling, Caroling..........Lyrics by Wilha Hutson, Music by Alfred Burt
The Alfred Burt carols come from a tradition begun by Reverend Bates G. Burt, his son, composer Alfred Burt, and their friend Wihla Hutson. Originally, they wrote original carols together and sent them to friends as Christmas cards. Over the years, the carols were collected and were published in three different sets. They have since been performed by choirs and caroling groups around the world.
Poinsettia Carol (Flores de pascua)..........Cuban villancico arr. Frederick Frahm
Bright red poinsettias to Jesus I bring;
and here is rich fruit which is fit for a king;
flowers and fruit from my homeland,
grown in the valleys and mountains;
these gifts I bring you, Niño adorado.
Canes full of sugar to Jesus I bring;
oranges and coffee so rich for the king;
flowers and fruit from my homeland,
grown in the valleys and mountains;
these gifts I bring you, Niño adorado.
In the Bleak Midwinter..........Text by Christina Rossetti, Music by Gustav Holst, Arranged by Jen Wagner
Go Tell It on the Mountain..........Traditional Spiritual, Arranged by Elizabeth Campbell
Winter Lullaby..........Pinkzebra
When the winter snow meets the world below,
painting fields of white in the evening light,
I will sing my song and it won't be long
till you're sleeping through the night.
In my arms you'll be safe from the cols.
And the warmth of my love will surround you.
By your side I'll stay till you drift away to my winter lullaby.
Though the winds may blow over hills of snow,
and the frost may bite in the winter night,
you will find your place in my warm embrace,
and your dreams will soon take flight.
In my arms you'll be safe from the cold.
And the warmth of my love will surround you.
By your side I'll stay till you drift away to my winter lullaby.
Another season passes on its way.
Another day has come and gone away.
But always know my love is here to stay.
Forever in my heart.
Too soon for me the years go swiftly by.
One day the time will come for you to fly.
You'll dream about your life and so will I.
The world can wait and see.
For now you're here with me.
In my arms you'll be safe from the cols.
And the warmth of my love will surround you.
By your side I'll stay till you drift away
to my soft and sweet, now complete, winter lullaby.
I Saw Three Ships..........Traditional English, Arranged by Donna Gartman Schultz
